Eaton Mobile Tour Brings Interactive, Hands-On Safety Training Directly to
Electrical Contractors
Focuses on Code Compliance for Installations in Harsh and Hazardous Environments
SYRACUSE, N.Y. … Power management company Eaton is taking a 40-foot, fully interactive
trailer on a nationwide tour of major industrial centers to meet increasing demand for
electrical safety training. The trailer, which is filled with a comprehensive array of end-to-end
electrical systems, will provide training for electrical contractors who work in harsh and
hazardous environments, including oil and gas installations. The 2015 mobile training tour
began Feb. 23 in Houston and is moving across the country throughout the year.
Interactive media throughout the trailer will focus on such topics as the classification of
hazardous atmospheres, explosion prevention techniques, state-of-the-art equipment, and
wiring methods. Companies can request personalized stops for the tour, thus reducing the
need to send workers and electrical contractors to remote training centers.
“We can customize the training based on who we are visiting, allowing for flexibility when
working with various electrical system designs,” said Thomas McCarron, vice president,
global sales and marketing, oil and gas, Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds Division. “Eaton is committed
to providing the industry with innovative and efficient ways to maximize safety without
sacrificing productivity. This tour is an ideal opportunity for electrical contractors, facilities and
engineering firms to gain hands-on exposure to Eaton’s state-of-the-art solutions and
expertise.”

Eaton’s mobile training tour will include a major stop at the National Training Institute Trade
Show in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from July 25 through 31, hosted by the Electrical Training
Alliance. The Electrical Training Alliance was created from the legacy of the National Joint
Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC). The Alliance consists of 300 joint
apprenticeship and training centers across North America, over 100 electrical industry
manufacturers and training partners and a vast network of public and private educational
institutions from secondary school level to the university level.
The mobile trailer features an electrical system design demonstrating code-compliant
installations in Division 1, Division 2, heavy industrial and commercial construction
applications. Educational components aimed at optimizing safety and low-cost of ownership
include:

Introduction to hazardous areas and the prevention of external ignition and explosion

Equipment and installation requirements in Class I, Class II and Class III hazardous
locations (NEC Articles 500-503)

Equipment and installation requirements in Zone classification systems (NEC Articles
505-506)

Industrial LED technology and design considerations
