Eaton’s Extensive Line of Space-Saver Connectors Provide Safety and Cost
Savings for Commercial Construction Applications
SYRACUSE, N.Y. … Power management company Eaton has recently introduced its
Crouse-Hinds series of patented Space-Saver Connectors that are used to join EMT,
armored, metal clad, flexible metallic conduit or liquidtight cable to knockouts in a box or
enclosure. Available in set screw and compression formats, these EMT fittings are available
with male threads on the locknut to eliminate fitting interference while also maximizing
available space within a box. In order to prevent loosening from vibrations or damage from
sharp edges, the angled teeth on the locknut bite into the box or enclosure.
“Our family of Space-Saver products is another example of where we’re continually looking
for methods to improve products in ways that deliver real value to contractors,” said Jack
King, commercial marketing manager, Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds Division. “Space-Saver fittings
are available and approved for use with various types of conduit and simplify and ease the
installation process, especially in those applications where available space is restricted.”
The Space-Saver raintight compression fitting meets the necessary wet location approvals,
Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Listed E-23132 wet location rated, put in place by the
National Electric Code (NEC) with features that deliver maximum usable space inside boxes
and enclosures. The black glandnut on this connector is also highly visible and easily
identifiable, indicating that the fitting is raintight. Additionally, the Space-Saver liquidtight
connectors are designed for applications requiring a liquidtight conduit where the connector
provides maximum usable space while also sealing out cutting oils, coolants, water, dust,

moisture and water. This provides protection for conductors and can contribute to a reduction
in downtime.
The Space-Saver ACB series connectors are designed for applications using AC, MC, or
FMC, which is a SSACB series of fittings that combine the other Space-Saver features. This
includes corrosion resistant, tubular steel construction, dual-gripping saddle design for strong
secure terminations and a tri-head set screw for quick and easy installation. All Space-Saver
Connectors are UL and cUL listed.
