Cooper Crouse-Hinds Introduces Solar Combiner Solutions
for Photovoltaic Applications
New Solar Combiner Boxes offer superior durability and resistance from harsh weather conditions
for commercial, residential, and light industrial and utility applications.
SYRACUSE, NY, Intersolar, 2010 – Cooper Crouse-Hinds, a leader in electrical products that enhance
safety, productivity, innovation and labor savings in harsh, industrial and commercial environments, now
offers Solar Combiner Boxes—advanced wire-management systems designed for use in grid-tied solar
(photovoltaic) applications.
The durable, flexible product offering groups input wires and circuits from several arrays or solar panels
into one main buss or feed going to the inverter, ultimately minimizing labor and material costs. Safe
and dependable Solar Combiner Boxes meet National Electrical Code (NEC) wire bend requirements,
offer ample wiring room and flexibility, and provide over-current and short-circuit protection.
The new offering is built to Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 1741 standards—for long, dependable
service in even the most demanding environments. An extensive range of options including surge
protection, integral disconnects and wireless string monitoring offers solutions to meet the most
demanding customer applications.
―With the solar market continuing its rapid expansion, customers seek convenient and reliable solutions
to meet their wire-management needs,‖ said John Kerkhove, General Manager, Cooper Crouse-Hinds.
―As a reliable product designed to withstand even the harshest environments, Solar Combiner Boxes
serve as a practical solution. Our extensive range of options combined with our manufacturing and
customization capabilities allow us to offer the most complete solar combiner products in the industry.‖

Solar Combiner Boxes come standard in a strong, durable and resistant fiberglass enclosure with a
seamless door gasket and additional built-in UV protection. This ensures maximum resistance to
degradation from environmental and UV exposure, even in the harshest environmental conditions,
leading to a longer product life and significant savings.
With all necessary parts pre-installed, the need to purchase parts and pieces separately is eliminated.
Optional integral disconnects offer even more material and labor savings by joining the combiner box
and disconnect in one enclosure. All models feature touch-safe fuse holders and power distribution
blocks.
