Eaton Helps Increase Protection against Damaging Arc Fault Conditions with
New AFCI Receptacle for Residential and Light Commercial Applications
PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. … Power management company Eaton is providing end users with
an even greater level of protection against damaging arc fault conditions with the introduction
of the new arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) duplex receptacle. With the launch of its new
AFCI receptacle, Eaton stands as the only manufacturer to provide proven and
comprehensive protection against arc faults at both the breaker and receptacle level, making
it ideal for both residential and light commercial applications.
“The introduction of our new AFCI receptacle provides end users with another codecompliant tool to help protect against arc faults that could potentially ignite surrounding
material, resulting in an electrical fire,” said Michele Salimbeni-Schnoll, marketing manager,
Eaton’s Cooper Wiring Devices business. “It features proven technology used in Eaton AFCI
breakers that has been refined over several years to minimize unwanted tripping, thereby
reducing contractor call-backs.”
Eaton’s AFCI receptacle is designed to protect all downstream wire and appliances from
parallel and series arcs, as well as series arcs upstream in the home run. AFCI receptacles
are great for retrofit applications and can be easily installed as a low-cost solution. AFCI
receptacles are ideal for locations such as dormitory units, where local reset capabilities
would be needed.
In addition to AFCI receptacles, Eaton offers AFCI breakers designed to protect the entire
circuit from its origin in the load center for both parallel and series arcs.
