MBA Foundation Course Waivers
MBA foundation course requirements may be satisfied with graduate coursework at Eastern Michigan University after admission
to the MBA program or with equivalent undergraduate or graduate coursework earned before admission to the MBA program.
Specific foundation course requirements will depend on the student’s prior education. Individuals with a Bachelor of Business
Administration from an AACSB accredited institution are eligible to waive the MBA foundation courses.* Non-AACSB courses
will be considered on a case-by-case basis; please see an advisor regarding the waiver review process. Courses taken at the
undergraduate level must have been completed with at least a “C” grade in order to be considered for a foundation waiver or a
“B” or better if taken at the graduate level. MBA foundation courses may be considered for waiver through the following:
ACC 501: Accounting Principles
1. EMU undergraduate courses: ACC 240** and ACC 241**
2. Other AACSB accredited schools: Principles of Financial Accounting/Accounting I** (3 credit hours) and Principles of
Managerial Accounting/Accounting II** (3 credit hours), or a graduate level equivalent***
3. Non-AACSB accredited schools: course(s) evaluated by EMU COB faculty to be equivalent
4. Equivalent courses to EMU’s ACC 240 and ACC 241 per EMU transfer equivalency**
5. Credit by Examination
ECON 500: Foundations of Economic Analysis
1. EMU undergraduate courses: ECON 201** and ECON 202**
2. Other AACSB accredited schools: Macroeconomics** (3 credit hours) and Microeconomics** (3 credit hours), or a
graduate level equivalent***
3. Non-AACSB accredited schools: course(s) evaluated by EMU COB faculty and deemed equivalent
4. Equivalent courses to EMU’s ECON 201 and ECON 202 per EMU transfer equivalency**
5. CLEP Exam (Macroeconomics and Microeconomics): minimum score of 50 in each exam is required
