The Guide provides management direction in the form of goals along with prevention practices that range from general to specific. The practices included in this Guide will help prevent noxious weeds from becoming established or help reduce the spread of noxious weeds that are already established. The practices contained in this document are guidance. We will update these practices as better information becomes available, particularly through your use and application of them. Consider these practices for inclusion in programmatic documents and for planning and project implementation. At some future time we anticipate reevaluating them for inclusion in the Directives System. Our field personnel asked that these practices be developed, and they were instrumental in making it happen. Developing, compiling and refining comprehensive noxious weed prevention practices have taken two years. This document is the culmination of a lot of hard work by many dedicated people within the Forest Service and our cooperators. It is clear in reading through these practices that everyone has a vital role to play to help prevent the spread of noxious weeds. /s/ Ann M. Bartuska ANN M.
