Post-Landfill Action Network Zero Waste Resource Development Summer Fellowship PLAN helps students reduce waste in their campus communities, delivering significant environmental benefits and reducing costs for institutions, students, and parents. We provide student-led organizations on campuses nationwide with the tools and training to create self-sustaining waste-reduction programs, based on the model piloted at the University of New Hampshire. Additionally, PLAN is educating students about waste issues and working to build the infrastructure for a zero-waste world. Application Deadline: 5pm EST, Wednesday April 22, 2015 Contact Full Name: Alex Freid Contact Email: alex@postlandfill.org Job Description The primary focus of the Resource Development Summer Fellow will be writing comprehensive, engaging and advanced training manuals, so as to provide the resources necessary for students to begin, expand and troubleshoot zero waste programs on their campuses. The Resource Development Summer Fellow will be tasked with the following: Working with advisory campuses, the materials they provide and the materials that PLAN has already collected to organize data to build a familiarity with many different types of on campus composting programs, campus thrift stores or free stores, zero waste stadiums, events (like graduation), plastic bans and waste audit tactics (among other things). Collating and formatting information from research done on many campuses into educational materials in the form of documents, power points and manuals that will be used by the Campus Coordinators in working with students and running webinars. Collaborating with the PLAN summer interns and Graphic Designer to edit, finish and polish all of the manuals. This position runs from Mid-May – Mid-August 2015, at the end of this time the manuals will be completed and published. Experience/Skillset Ideal candidates for this position will demonstrate a passion for environmental issues, strong leadership skills and a diverse record of leadership and organizing experience (especially college/student organizing). As a part of the PLAN team they will be expected to have a willingness to learn new processes, excellent research abilities, an eye for writing and formatting educational materials, an ability to perform outreach activities and represent the organization professionally, and have a flair for creative, out-of-the box thinking. Preferred skills include: Experience in leadership, organizing and program innovation on a college campus Strong skills in logistics management, crisis mitigation and advanced troubleshooting Advanced research and writing ability Strong written, verbal and inter-personal communications skills Positive attitude with a team player mentality Friendly, outgoing personality Ability to represent organization in a professional manner Impressive wit - The chosen candidate will need to be able to commute regularly to our Dover, NH office and meet inperson on a regular basis throughout the week. - The chosen candidate will demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, but will also have a high degree of guidance with clearly set expectations. - Position is open to recent graduates.
