CONTRACT AMENDMENT NO. 3

THE JAMES AND GRACE LEE BOGGS SCHOOL
In accordance with Article IX of the Terms and Conditions of the Contract ("Contract"), dated
July 1, 2013 , between EASTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY BOARD OF REGENTS
("University Board") and THE JAMES AND GRACE LEE BOGGS SCHOOL (the
"Academy"), the parties wish to amend the Contract by replacing the floor plans and key features
description contained in the existing Physical Plant Description (Schedule 6) with the attached
floor plans and key features description; by amending the Academy's Application and
Enrollment of Students document (Schedule 7f) to increase the Academy ' s maximum enrollment
and amend its grade range; and to amend the "Age & Grade Range" document (Schedule 7h) to
expand the Academy's grade range to include Grades K through 12.
Therefore, the parties make the following amendments to the Contract:

The existing floor plans contained in the Physical Plant Description document, Schedule
6, are hereby deleted and are replaced with the attached floor plans; and the existing key
features description is deleted and replaced with the attached key features description.
Schedule 7f, titled, "Application and Enrollment of Students", is hereby amended in the
following way: The "Enrollment Limits" paragraph of the document is amended to state
as follows: "The academy will enroll a maximum of 112 students for the 2015-2016
school year, growing to a maximum of 304 students. The academy will annually adopt
maximum enrollment figures prior to its application and enrollment period.
Schedule 7h, titled, "Age & Grade Range," is hereby deleted in its entirety and replaced
with the attached document, titled, "Age and Grade Range" For the 2015-16 school year,
enrollment availability is as follows: Grade range: Kindergarten through grade 6. The
academy anticipates adding one grade level per year through grade 12.
All relevant documents are attached to this Amendment.
This Amendment is hereby approved by the University Board and the Academy through their
authorized designees.

Schedule 6: Physical Plant Description
The Boggs School is entering the second year of a five-year lease with landlord Franklin Wright
Settlements.
The facility is the former Sophie Wright School at 4141 Mitchell St., Detroit Ml, 48207.
Some of the key features include:
A first floor with three classrooms and various offices and workrooms:
• 3 Classrooms
• A warming kitchen
• A family resource room
• A student resource room
• A staff work room
• A main office
• An administrative office
A second floor with two classrooms
• 2 Classrooms
• A gym/auditorium with a stage
• A large flexible space for arts, meals, and other uses
• A library
A large up -to-date playground
A greenhouse and shed
A great deal of nearby green space that can be easily secured for expansion,
parking, play, and/or gardening

Application and Enrollment Policies and Procedures
Enrollment Limits
The academy will enroll a maximum of 112 students for the 2015-2016 school year, growing to
a maximum of 304 students. The academy will annually adopt maximum enrollment figures prior
to its application and enrollment period.
Students will be places in mixed-age classrooms based on a variety of readiness factors as
determined by school staff with input from students' families. Groupings will not be made until
after enrollment is completed and will not affect a student's lottery or enrollment status .
Admissions Policy
The Academy
Will not discriminate on the basis of intellectual or athletic abilities
Will not discriminate on the basis of measures of achievement or aptitude
Will not discriminate on the basis of status as a handicapped person or any other basis
that would be illegal for an existing school district
Shall provide for the education of its pupils without discrimination as to religion, creed ,
race, gender, sexual orientation, color, or national origin and shall comply with all state
and federal civil rights laws
Will not charge tuition
Shall comply with all laws applicable to public schools concerning church-state issues
Requirements
Enrollment is open to all individuals who reside in Michigan. Except for a foreign
exchange student who is not a United States citizen, a public school academy shall not
enroll a pupil who is not a Michigan resident.
The academy shall not charge tuition
The academy admissions may be limited to pupils within a particular age/grade level or
on any other basis that would be legal if used by a Michigan public school district
The academy will comply with all aspects of the McKinney-Vento Act regarding
enrollment of homeless students
The application period shall be a minimum of two weeks duration with evening and/or
weekend times available.
