2016 House Staff Orientation Schedule Outline Friday, Monday-Tuesday, June 24, 27-28 Welcome! First, a few helpful notes: This Schedule Outline is only a rough sketch of the full Orientation Schedule which will be posted here and emailed to all incoming house staff once finalized in early/mid-June. All details in this document are approximate and may change before the schedule is finalized. We hope this helps you plan your start as a Vanderbilt resident or clinical fellow. Attendance will be monitored. To receive your orientation bonus, you must participate in all Orientation activities (except the Welcome Picnic or anything noted in the final schedule as applying only to certain house staff). At Registration the first day, you will get a personalized attendance badge. Don’t lose your attendance badge and don’t forget to bring it with you each day! It is considered unprofessional behavior to leave a session in progress; so plan to be present for the entirety of each orientation day. Vanderbilt photo ID card: You must have your official Vanderbilt ID card before you begin your training program. This ID includes library access, meal card, and building access systems. Beginning in June you can go to the Vanderbilt Card Services Office is located in D-2107 Medical Center North (MCN) to have your badge made. Vanderbilt Card Services Office typical hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-1pm and 2pm-4:30pm – you can call 615-9363350 to verify hours on the day you plan to visit Remember to Bring to Orientation the items specified in your task list (in your Welcome Packet sent early April) as items to bring, including: o o o o o o Particulate Respirator Approval Form W-4 Identification documents for completing your I-9 (http://hr.vanderbilt.edu/i9/documents/I9-AcceptableDocuments.pdf). Male house staff should be clean shaven for respirator fitting. Nursing mothers: Staff Lactation rooms are available (see full list here) and information on the room nearest to Orientation activities will be in the full Orientation schedule. Wi-Fi: You can connect to the network ‘vummiv’ with no security settings. This is a public Wi-Fi connection so use care when transmitting sensitive data. After your start date, you will be able to connect to the secured Wi-Fi network (“vuNet”). If you have any issues connecting, see this page for the unsecured “vummiv” network and this page for the secured “vuNet” network after your start date, or the VUMC help desk (615-343-HELP) or your program’s IT department can help you connect to it. 2016 House Staff Orientation Schedule Outline – ALL DETAILS SUBJECT TO CHANGE 1 Day One: Friday, June 24, 2016 7:00 a.m. North Lobby of Light Hall Registration & Coffee Pick up orientation schedule and attendance badge - Attendance Check.
