Overview of Proposal
• Mosaic Fertilizer is seeking Substantial Deviation approval to
the existing Wingate Creek Mine DRI in east Manatee County;
• No expansion to existing 3,028+ acre Wingate Creek Mine is
proposed, only authorization to mine additional 667 acres from
within;
• Of the 667 acres, 652 acres were previously approved “for
disturbance only” and the remaining 15 acres were designated
as “preservation”;
• No changes to the annual mining rate, water withdrawal rate,
number of truck trips and/or truck haul routes; and
• Mining operations and reclamation activities would be
extended by nine years.
