 Most programmes consist of two years in two
different hospitals
 (~15% of programmes have two years at the same
hospital)
 No more than one year in a central London hospital
(i.e. Royal Free, Whittington, UCH)

 We try to ensure accurate job descriptions – but service
reconfigurations ongoing
 Generic programme – we will ensure that your two
years meet curricular requirements
‘Broadening the Foundation
Programme’ Report 2014
 22.5% of F1s and 22.5% F2s to have a Psychiatry
placement
 100% of Foundation Doctors to have a community
placement (i.e. GP, Palliative Care, Public Health)
 No more than 12 months of Surgery in two years (up
to eight months in one year)
Programme composition and links
 You will have three four-month placements
 Example of a linked two-year programme:
 F1 Basildon (Renal, Geriatrics, Trauma & Orthopaedics)
 F2 Royal Free (Paediatrics, Acute Internal Medicine,
General Practice)
