A. College of Business
• Request for new course (MKTG 300): A motion to not pass the request with the comment
“There is no letter of support from G&G or IESS for inclusion of this course in the Sustainability
minor, as noted at the 9/18/14 Arts Committee meeting” carried 10-0-0.
*Note conflict with Sciences committee recommendation
B. College of Arts & Sciences
1. World Languages: The following proposals were approved 10-0-0.
• Requests for Program Phase Out (French Language and Literature Minor, Spanish Business
Minor, Spanish Culture & Literature Minor)
• Proposals for Program Revision (Spanish Language Minor, Spanish Major)
2. Sociology, Anthropology and Criminology
• Request for new course (CRM 263): A motion to approve the request with the comment “We
received the old proposal lacking the changes addressed in response to the Sciences’ concerns,
but these concerns have been addressed” carried 9-0-1.
3. Political Science: The following proposals were approved 10-0-0, with the understanding that
the course description for PLSC 510 should be “This course introduces students to the intellectual
origins of modern public administration and the concepts and theories of organization.”

IV. Recommendations of the Sciences Committee (November 6, 2014)
A. College of Technology
• Request for new course (EM 531): A motion to approve this request passed by a vote of 6-0-0
B. College of Business
• Request for new course (MKTG 300): A motion to approve this request with the comment “the
course cannot be counted toward the IESS minor unless such a revision is originated by the IESS
program. In addition, we recommend that the course should be either changed to a 200-level
course or prerequisites should be added to sustain the rigor of a 300-level course” passed by a
vote of 7-0-0.

C. College of Arts & Sciences
1. Chemistry
• Proposal for program revision (Chemistry minor) was approved 6-1-0.
2. Geography & Geology
• Proposal for course revision (ESSC 110) was approved with the comment “this course is also
part of the secondary level integrated science program, so that should be noted within the catalog;
see number 11 on the submitted paperwork” by a vote of 7-0-0.
3. Physics & Astronomy
• Proposal for program revision (Secondary Education Integrated Science) was approved 7-0-0.
