Integration of Guam into the North American Numbering Plan (NANPA) with country code 1
(ITU-T Recommendation E.164).
Guam Telephone Authority, Tamuning, announces that on 1 July 1997 at 0001 hours, local time
(1401 hours UTC on 30 June 1997), Guam will be integrated into the North American Numbering Plan
(NANPA) with the NPA (Numbering Plan Area) code 671 within the country code 1. International routing to
Guam should consequently occur by the four-digit analysis of +1 671.
There will be a permissive dialling period of one year, during which Guam can be accessed
internationally by dialling either the country code 671 or country code 1 followed by code NPA 671. The
permissive dialling period will end on 1 July 1998 at 0000 hours, local time (1400 hours UTC on 30 June
1998).
The test number is +1 671 479 4826 (+1 671 479 GUAM). This number will be available for
international testing as from 1 April 1997 at 0001 hours, local time (1401 hours UTC on 31 March 1997).
