REL382: RELIGIONS of ETHIOPIA Block 5 - 2012 Religion & Public Policy Research Scholarship Sponsored by the Berry Center Deadline: APRIL 18th at 9Am This is a collaborative student project for two to three students who will conduct research about religion and public policy in Ethiopia, and receive a scholarship in the amount of $1500-$2250 towards REL382: Religions of Ethiopia. Students will prepare a descriptive research assignment about a current social and religious problem in Ethiopia, the contesting claims that underlie this problem, as well as the form of policy responses by the government. This project will require submission of a research proposal to Professors Sacks by December 1, 2011, successful completion of the project paper during the course, and presentation of findings at the student symposium in Spring 2012. Scholarship recipients will be determined from the applicant pool by the International and Off-Campus Studies Oversight Committee on the basis of the following criteria: (a) demonstrated financial need (b) grade point average (c) application essay addressing the students’ interest in the course, and how participation in this project will enhance their academic program (d) letter of recommendation. Students can enhance their candidacy by having completed or expressing the intention to complete POL 282 Public Policy (block two 2011-2012).
