Report incident to Campus Safety
Evaluate immediate, direct safety threat. Follow other protocols (e.g.,
Bomb Threat) as appropriate.
Notify DOS, Director of Intercultural Life; VPAA (if incident involves
faculty member); VPSA; PIO
Obtain pictures/documentation of scene; secure scene as appropriate
Make determination about removing visible/physical
evidence/materials (consult with President)
Consult with LEO to determine whether incident constitutes potential
crime/hate crime.
If yes:
 File a report with MVPD
 Assist MVPD/LEO as directed
Assemble key personnel (e.g., Director of Intercultural Life, Chaplain,
Diversity Committee Chair, VPSA, VPAA, PIO) to discuss campus
response
Identify and reach out to specific targeted group(s)
Coordinate a campus-wide message including information about a
campus response & support/resources
Post the Cornell message on the website for other interested parties
Meet with student affairs staff to discuss the response needed
Identify and provide information to student leaders
 Address personnel issues if immediately affected parties
include faculty/staff
Add impacted students to the early warning list for ongoing check-in
