Discuss obtaining certification with your supervisor. Your director will approve or deny the request based upon the recommendations of your supervisor, and on the Professional Certification Policy. If approved, the supervisor will provide written permission to participate. The approval document should include a description of which certification is approved, the anticipated date of successful completion of certification, and total cost for completion including all exams and the incentive payment. The written approval should be maintained in the employee’s department file. Prepare for the certification exam. Sign up, pay for and complete the certification exam. Upon successful completion of the certification exam, complete reimbursement form. Attach receipt that details cost of the exam and the date completed as well as proof of successful completion of the exam. Supervisor will initiate reimbursement, once the form has been properly completed and signed.
