Colorado School of Mines invites applications for the temporary position of Reference & Research
Librarian. The Library supports the educational and research needs of Mines, primarily in science and
engineering, and is a regional resource for technical information. For more information on the Library,

Located in Golden, Colorado, in the foothills of the Rockies and just minutes away from downtown Denver,
Mines is a public institution with enrollment of over 5,500 students in undergraduate and graduate degree

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Research & User Interface Librarian, this position is responsible for
supporting reference and research services for students, faculty, staff, and other library users. As part of
the Research team, this position provides reference assistance including staffing the Library’s Information
Desk, instruction on information skills, and services that support information research. The position
participates in evaluating user interfaces, database trouble-shooting, and projects in Special Collections
as assigned. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications: Qualified applicants will, at a minimum, have the following: Master’s degree in library
science from an ALA accredited school (or equivalent) by date of employment. Applicants should
demonstrate excellent communication skills, a public service orientation, and familiarity with library
technologies. Preference will be given to applicants with backgrounds that include academic libraries;
reference services; direct provision of other services to users; and instruction.
