ARTIST'S STATEMENT
The practical function of ceramics is to be utilitarian.
Beyond t h i s ,
my work must have an aesthetic responsibility.
The position developed
from this commitment enables me to express myself.
The works represented in the thesis presentation evolved from a
thought continuum of traditional pottery.
I used traditional methods
to achieve m y forms and co l o r s . . The use of the potter's wheel,
application of colored clays and the introduction of salt and
bicarbonate of soda into a vapor fired kiln are the tools I use to
achieve the results that I want.
