Banner Download Folders
1.
The Division of Information Technology provides “download folders” to each business unit that needs
access to input/output data from Banner utilizing the central production job scheduling system (presently
UC4 Application Manager formerly known as AppWorx).
2.
Download folders may contain data subject to more significant security constraints than other shared
folders. As such, security must be actively maintained for these folders.
3.
DoIT manages security access to the download folders in consultation with the Banner Functional Security
team. Security practices shall be consistent with other Banner related security.
4.
The Banner Functional Security team shall audit access to each of the download folders at least once per
year to assure that security is properly maintained. They may also recommend practice changes should any
issues arise with an unacceptable level of risk.
5.
Download folders may only be used to store files or data related to Banner input/output processes.
6.
Download folders will continue to include “DL” at the beginning of the directory name to identify the
directory as a download directory.
7.
Download folders will be located with the “Interdepartmental Shares”, but shall not be subject to other
requirements of interdepartmental shares such as the expiration dates.
8.
Requests for the creation of a new download folder shall be submitted by the IT staff member supporting
the business process requiring the new download folder to the Director of Enterprise Application Services.
Director approval shall be distributed via e-mail (or in writing) to it-systems@list2.emich.edu.
9.
As this standard is implemented, any transition of the location of existing download folders shall be
planned and completed in such a way as to minimize impact on operations and avoid disruption of existing
services.
10. Download folders are “owned” by DoIT with consultation of the Banner Functional Security Team.
