Presence of HSA is not obviously correlated with F status. Appropriate crosses show its genetic basis not to be closely linked to the TLB1 region. Occasional mutations from HSA+ to HSA- and the reverse have occurred simultaneously with mutations of other genes not obviously related physiologically.
