Purpose The purpose of this document is to provide UCL security team & front lodge team with guidance on the actions required should an ENFORCING INSPECTOR arrive at UCL. What is an enforcing inspector? Health, Safety & Environmental law is enforced by inspectors. The following inspectors could arrive at UCL at any time – they do not need to give advance notification. Health & Safety Inspectors from Health & Safety Executive (HSE) Environmental Inspectors from Environment Agency (EA) Environmental Health Inspectors from Local Authority (LA) Enforcing Officers from London Fire Brigade (LFB) Counter Terrorism Security Advisor (CTSA) for the Metropolitan Policy What should you do? If an enforcing authority arrives at UCL do the following; 1. Ask; a. Which enforcing authority they are from b. Are they on a scheduled visit i.e. to meet a named contact or an unannounced visit c. Where they would like to visit. d. Ask them to sign in and provide briefing on emergency procedures for the building. 2. Call Security Management to advise an enforcing authority are on site. 3. During normal hours call ext 28850 Safety Services and request a person to accompany an enforcing officer. 4. Out of normal hours security personal to accompany the enforcing officers 5. UCL Representative to record the following; 1. Name of Inspecting Officer 2. Warrant Card Number 3. Type of Authority 4. Reason for visit 5. Any comments made 6.
