Document Number: S1/A/2 Submission by: IFIP, Civil Society Draft WSIS+10 Statement on the Implementation of WSIS Outcomes A. Preamble The WSIS Outcomes have been considerable and there is a fairly close match between what we set out to achieve and what has been able to be achieved to date, however there is a need for us, in the next period, to establish professionalism as a basic concept underpinning and enabling all future achievements around the world. Global professionalism in ICT practice will ensure the multi-stakeholders are able to manage their own critical infrastructure reassured by the ethical nature of actors but also to ensure that similar circumstances apply in all other nations. At the last WSIS a submission from Global Ethics made the following recommendation amongst others: that ethical codes and legal regulations of professions involved in the production, distribution and archiving of information, communication and knowledge be promoted and reinforced; IFIP IP3 would endorse this recommendation for those jurisdictions that support this. 1
