Information Required The EMU College Supports Program is a fee-for-service program for students with Asperger’s Syndrome and related social communication disorders. The individualized support services go above and beyond the standard accommodations offered free of charge to all students with disabilities at EMU. • General fees are set for the basic College Supports Program, however each client’s plan is individualized and priced accordingly. Current costs: • Current (within the past three years) evaluations in the areas of cognition, including intelligence. • Evidence of academic achievement in the form of grades (transcripts/report cards) and/or standardized achievement tests. • Last or current IEP. • Phone interviews by the CSP with high school or college personnel, or others as needed. • School behavior intervention plans. • Letters of support from current teachers. Facilitate a positive environment for academic achievement. Improve coordination of university services. Respond to the individualized needs of students. Guide the student toward becoming more independent as an adult. Getting Started • • • • A documented diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome or a related social communication disorder. Admitted to EMU based on student’s own merit. As a part of our enhanced support program, students are required to register with the Disability Resource Center (DRC) for standard services and accommodations, including single room housing requests. Our program works in close collaboration with the DRC across all aspects of the college experience. • • $5,500 per semester for academic coaching, structured study tables, writing support, advocacy, daily check-in, group support services and basic organizational skills. $7,000 and above per semester for all of the above plus life and social skills support, ongoing consultations with faculty and housing services, ongoing individual meetings, counseling and parent support.
