APPROVED MAJORS AND MINORS FOR ELEMENTARY CERTIFICATION Elementary certification is for a person who wishes to teach all subjects in grades K-5 and grades 6-8 in self-contained classrooms. All elementary certification students must complete the requirements for the Liberal Arts Major for Elementary Education as well as the Professional Education Sequence. The elementary certification student must also choose a second major or two minors. The required MTTC test for elementary certification is Elementary Education #103. The elementary certified teacher can add endorsements to teach grades 6-8 in his/her second major or minors by passing optional Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) subject area tests.
