Owens Community College – AAS in Registered Nursing – General Education Option
Eastern Michigan University – Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Nursing Completion)
Additional Information:
1. In completing the coordinated program of study for this articulation agreement, course substitutions should be made with
the guidance of the advisors (indicated below) at both institutions to assure that all requirements are satisfied. Each
institution will determine the satisfaction of their individual program and degree requirements. Owens courses indicated
with an * are required for EMU’s Nursing major. These may be completed at the most convenient time for the student,
whether before or after admission to EMU. See an advisor to determine what to complete for this option.
2. Although this agreement includes EMU’s General Education Requirements, students whose transcripts are endorsed as
“Ohio Transfer Module Satisfied” will only be required to satisfy the three requirements for EMU’s general education
program listed below. This does not exempt students from satisfying program major requirements. Under this agreement,
general education requirements may be completed, as listed in the agreement, at the most appropriate time for the student
whether before or after admission to EMU.
a) an approved course in Quantitative Reasoning: [at Owens MTH 108, 125, 126, 128, 130, 170, 211, or 213] or [at
EMU MATH 110; or if intermediate algebra has been completed with a “C” or higher, MATH 105, 118, 120, 170,

b) an approved course in Global Awareness or US Diversity: [at Owens ANT 200 or SOC 250] or [at EMU ANTH 135]
c) an approved Learning beyond the Classroom course or experience offered by EMU [NURS 451 at EMU]
3. Only courses with a grade of “C” or better (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) will be accepted for transfer to EMU.
4. Under this agreement, EMU will waive the 60-hour rule and require that a minimum of 30 credit hours must be
completed in courses offered by EMU, 15 hours of which must be in program requirements at the 300-level or above. Of
the last 30 hours completed before graduating, a minimum of 10 credit hours must be in courses offered by EMU. A
minimum of 124 credit hours, completed in-residence or accepted in transfer, is required for graduation.
5. Students should apply to both EMU and the School of Nursing RN/BSN Completion Option. The application for
admission to EMU may be accessed from the EMU Office of Admissions website. Students must submit transcripts
from all previously attended colleges. Students who speak English as a second language must submit a TOEFL or
MELAB score that meets EMU requirements.
6. The Application for Admission to the RN/BSN Option may be accessed from the School of Nursing website at
www.emich.edu/nursing/appForms.html Students must comply with the program requirements in effect at the time of
admission to the program. Current admission requirements include:

education requirements or are MACRAO satisfied.

evaluation of your application for admission. Copies of the articulation guide are available on EMU’s webpage at
www.emich.edu/ccr/artguide.php.
Effective Dates: September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2014. If this agreement is not renewed at the end of the
