Experience small group learning through hands-on demonstrations around
Asthma care, Concussion, Orthopedic injuries, ENT, G-Buttons and CentralLines
CONNECTING WITH THE COMMUNITY
This two day conference is offered to school nurses and other
community oriented health professionals that are interested in
learning about new and current health information for school-aged
children. Each participant will receive speaker materials, Midwest
Multistate Division contact hours if attending both days, continental
breakfast and lunch.
Missouri Baptist Medical Center is an approved provider of continuing
nursing education by the Midwest Multistate Division, an accredited
approver by the American Nurse Credentialing Center’s Commission
on Accreditation.
Registration fee will be $65, even if you can only attend one day of
the conference.

Health Practice
Presenter will explore how school-community health nurses can develop and
implement practice and protocol changes to improve public health in schools.
10:00 – 11:30 Asthma Management in Schools: Assessing a Child’s Readiness to Self-Carry
Presenter will describe the barriers to access asthma medication in
schools, and to understand the strategies and tools available to improve
access to life-saving medication for students with asthma during the school
day.

Building a Culture of Health
10:00 – 11:25 Marijuana, WE’d be better off without it!
Presenter will discuss trends in marijuana use, including edibles (candy,
cookies and other food products), vaping marijuana products, marijuana and
THC concentrates. In addition, factual information about the reality of other
states that have legalized marijuana and the unintended consequences

an impediment to healthy habits. The
presenter will discuss the findings
and recommendations of the For the
Sake of All report, the plans to move
from recommendations to community
action, and how you can get involved.

Each year new policies are developed that make their way into law. The
presenter will address any new laws pertinent to nurses working in the school
setting.

Learn to assess and identify potential injuries that occur in and out of school;
and how to treat with limited medical resources and equipment.
