Property Record Feedback Tool

Owners of real property in Mecklenburg County now have a means to review their property
record information online, and provide any feedback to the Assessor’s Office. The following
example illustrates how the tool can be used.
1. Click on a link for the tool from a web page or directly:
http://propertycheck.mecklenburgcountync.gov
2. The tool opens up to its search menu.
You may search for a property using Name,
8-9 character Parcel Number, Street
Address (location of property), Mailing
Address (owners location), or even a
combination such as name and street:
Kermit Sesame St. When using the
combination, the checkbox for “Search All
Items Separately” should be checked.
3. Select the criteria and then enter a search
parameter. In the example, an address
search is requested for Latta Plantation, 5225
Sample Rd.
4. A return set of choices to view is displayed.
There may be several addresses, or in this
case, several buildings at the address to
review. Click on “Review Property
Characteristics” beside your choice. If none
of the choices are correct, you may click on
“Search Again”. For our example, we will look
at Building Number 1.

5. The first Property Information screen provides
fields for the user to enter contact information.
These fields provide the means whereby the
Assessor’s Office can clarify any feedback
provided. All feedback will be reviewed by the
Assessor’s Office, and verified with the
owner(s).
The remainder of the screen shows general
information about the property, and lists the
attributes recorded in County records. Space
for notes and comments are provided adjacent
to each information item.
6. Following the listing of attributes is the sketch
information for the structures on record. The
sketches serve as the basis for determining the
area of the building, a main component of
valuation.
The main components in the sketches are
listed below, with area calculations, and a
space for comments and feedback.

7. The last section lists the “Special Building Features
and Yard Items/Out Buildings” (SFYI) listed in the
property record. A space is provided beside each
item for notes/feedback.
Space for additional notes on SFYI is provided
below. At the bottom, another note section is
provided for any general information not specific to a
particular attribute.
After reviewing the information and verifying the
feedback, the user can click on “Send Message” to
complete the communication to the Assessor’s
Office.
