MCBRIDE HONORS PROGRAM MINOR CHECKLIST 21 CREDITS (effective Fall 2014) Required Core Courses (6 credits) _________ _________ HNRS305: Explorations in Modern America HNRS315: Explorations in the Modern World Practicum Requirement (3 credits) _________ _________ _________ HNRS405: Practicum: Individualized Study (public affairs internship, study abroad, service learning, research, etc. must be taken prior to spring semester of the senior year, and approved by program director) OR HNRS476: Community Engagement through Service Learning (this course may also be used to fulfill a 400 level elective) OR HNRS499: Independent Study Take Four of the Honors Electives (12 credits) Each elective course relates to a set of general themes but emphasize detailed examination of focused topics that relate to faculty expertise and passions. Students may take more than one course in areas that are of interest to them. Each of the McBride 400-level electives may be repeated once for a total of six credits, provided the course theme/topic is different. Topics and themes will be announced by email and on the McBride webpage. HNRS476 and HNRS499 may be used to fulfill the elective hours. Doing so will require the approval of the program director. EGBN201 is not a prerequisite for McBride, but the course must be completed prior to graduation to fulfill CSM requirements.
