HNRS405: Practicum: Individualized Study (public affairs internship, study abroad, service
learning, research, etc. must be taken prior to spring semester of the senior year, and
approved by program director)

HNRS476: Community Engagement through Service Learning (this course may also be used
to fulfill a 400 level elective)

HNRS499: Independent Study
Take Four of the Honors Electives (12 credits)
Each elective course relates to a set of general themes but emphasize detailed examination of focused topics that
relate to faculty expertise and passions. Students may take more than one course in areas that are of interest to
them. Each of the McBride 400-level electives may be repeated once for a total of six credits, provided the course
theme/topic is different. Topics and themes will be announced by email and on the McBride webpage. HNRS476 and
HNRS499 may be used to fulfill the elective hours.

Humanities & Social Sciences Courses
The McBride program fulfills all of the CSM Humanities & Social Science requirements except:
LAIS100: Nature & Human Values: prerequisite for McBride courses
EBGN201: Principles of Economics: required for all CSM students
LAIS200: Human Systems: waived for McBride Students
If a student is admitted to McBride but has not yet taken NHV, the student may be able to take NHV concurrently with
the first McBride seminar. Doing so will require the approval of the program director. EGBN201 is not a prerequisite
for McBride, but the course must be completed prior to graduation to fulfill CSM requirements.
