Full Time Research Analyst at New York Fed
Research Analysts play an integral role in both the policy and research functions of the Research and Statistics
Group. Our economists, whose specialties include banking and payment systems, capital markets, international
economics, macroeconomics, and microeconomics, work closely with Research Analysts. Upon leaving the Fed,
Research Analysts are consistently accepted by top graduate programs or they choose to pursue a wide variety of
public and private sector opportunities. In recent years, our RAs have gone on to pursue a Ph.D. in Economics or
Finance at MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, University of Chicago, UC Berkeley, and Wharton. Aside from
economics, previous RAs have also gone to law and public policy programs at Harvard Kennedy School, Princeton,
Yale, and others.
We seek candidates who have records of superior scholarship and academic curiosity. Research Analysts usually
come from strong economics, mathematics, or computer science backgrounds, though a major in one of these fields
is not a necessity. Successful candidates often have previous research experience, and many are considering
careers in economic research or other related fields. Ideal candidates will also have expertise with statistical
programming software, such as Stata, SAS, or MATLAB.
Attached to this email, you will also find a brochure with more details about the Research Analyst role along with a
flyer advertising the position. Applications are being accepted now until October 15
at http://www.newyorkfed.org/careers/current_undergrad_openings.html.

The Federal Reserve Board
The federal reserve board is hiring Research Assistants during the Fall recruiting season, October-November, and
the Spring recruiting season, February-March for positions that begin in the summer. We appreciate your referral of
interested and qualified students.
Each year, the Board hires approximately 60 recent graduates in economics, math, or related fields as RAs. These

After their time at the Board, many of our RAs move on to top graduate school programs.

Full-Time Economics Term Research Assistant
Job Description (Laibson/Madrian/Choi/Beshears)
Economics professors David Laibson (Harvard University), Brigitte Madrian (Harvard University), James Choi (Yale
University), and John Beshears (Harvard University) employ full-time research assistants with start dates during the
summer of 2015. This one-year position entails work on theoretical and empirical research related to decision
making, savings, investment, health behaviors, and psychological economics. The research uses field data,
experimental data, and hybrid field experiments.
Research assistants should have an interest in applying to a quantitative Ph.D. program (preferably in economics)
and pursuing an academic research career. They must be detail-oriented and have strong programming and
quantitative skills, including coursework in multivariable calculus, matrix algebra, probability, and statistics. Those
with previous experience estimating econometric models (e.g. OLS, GMM, MSM, MLE) have particular priority in the
hiring process. Excellent grades are required.
Your responsibilities include performing statistical analyses on large databases, designing and running experiments,
programming simulations of theoretical models, and proving theoretical results.
For examples of our research,
see http://www.nber.org/digest/apr02/w8651.html, http://www.pnas.org/content/early/2011/06/03/1103170108.full.pdf,
http://www.nber.org/digest/jul06/w12261.html, and Professor Laibson's TED talk http://befi.allianzgi.com/en/befitv/Pages/david-laibson.aspx
We prefer research assistants who want to become professional economists, but we're interested in future Ph.D.s in
any quantitative field. Although we can't guarantee placement, we have a strong track record of developing talent.
Our past full-time RAs have enrolled in the following Ph.D. programs: Harvard economics (8), Harvard business
economics (4), Harvard public policy (1), MIT economics (3), MIT operations research (1), Princeton economics (1),
University of Chicago GSB - finance (2), University of Chicago GSB - economics (2), University of Chicago history
(1), UC Berkeley economics (1), Yale economics (1), and Columbia economics (1).

Change Corps Grassroots Program
Early Application Deadline: Friday, October 10th -Apply Today!
Change Corps is looking for graduating seniors who are passionate about getting change unstuck on the issues we
care about most.
Change Corps is a salaried, one-year, full-immersion training program in grassroots organizing. When Change
Corps organizers complete their training, they'll know how to organize people to get change unstuck on the issues
they're passionate about and will have an opportunity to become part of a wave of new organizers who will keep
pushing and prodding our country forward for years to come. Click here to find out more.
In your year with Change Corps: You'll make a real impact on issues like women's rights, gun violence, immigration
reform, voting rights, marriage equality and money in politics. You'll get an amazing experience in the field, working
on 3-5 different campaigns throughout the year in cities across the country providing critical field support for partner
groups leading the charge on these issues and many more. You'll learn how to mobilize a community toward a
common goal and build the kind of support and grassroots action that persuades decision-makers to stop
obstructing change and embrace it instead. And you'll learn from the best: Our trainers include Cecile Richards,
President of Planned Parenthood, Justin Ruben, President of MoveOn, and Bill McKibben of 350.org. You'll even get
paid: Change Corps organizers earn $25,000 and receive paid sick days, holidays, and vacation days, and
qualifying staff have the opportunity to enroll in our group health care plan and student loan repayment program.
And when you graduate from the program, you'll be ready for what comes next: Change Corps will help connect you
to progressive groups looking for full-time staff to build their organizations and help them create social change.
In the next few months, we'll invite 25 candidates to join the Change Corps class of 2016. We're looking for people
who are fired up about politics and serious about social change, people who have taken initiative on their campus or
community, and people who are willing to roll up their sleeves and work for change over the long haul.
If you think you're one of those people, then click here to get more information about joining the 2015-2016 class of
Change Corps' Training Academy for Activists. Change Corps is a yearlong program that begins in August 2015 with
introductory classroom training, and continues with field placements in multiple locations across the country.
Candidates must be willing to relocate.
Sign up here to learn more. You can also contact Dani Neuharth-Keusch, Change Corps Recruitment Director,
