December 2015 Project Status: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services, along with engineering consultant US Infrastructure of Carolina, Inc. (USI), continue to work through the planning phase. Unfortunately, selecting improvements has proved to be challenging due to permitting concerns and potential downstream impacts. Next Steps: City staff will continue to work with USI to analyze and evaluate additional alternatives. Once this is complete, a public meeting will be scheduled to present the recommended alternative to residents. Meeting details will be mailed to residents two weeks in advance. The City repairs, replaces and installs new storm drainage infrastructure when it deteriorates or becomes too small to handle increases in stormwater. Investing in infrastructure protects public safety, guards private property, improves water quality and enhances quality of life. The Yancey Road Storm Drainage Improvement Project goal is to reduce flooding of streets and structures by improving the storm drainage infrastructure within the project area, while not causing downstream impacts.
