Notes: Percentages listed for each category are out of the total number of births. Variables such as Other Race
Hispanic, and Teens Under the Age of 20 have subcategories in which the percentages are based on the total for each of those categories (i.e. percentages for the racial groups listed under Other Races are out of the total number of births for variable Other Races).
The live birth rate is defined as the number of births in a year divided by the mid-year population estimate for that year, multiplied by 1,000.
First Trimester Prenatal Care refers to women who began receiving prenatal care in the first 3 months of their pregnancy of the total number of births. Women whose prenatal care status was listed as unknown on the birth were not included.
Under the category Hispanic/Latino and Country of Origin, the variable Unknown refers to records in which status of
Hispanic ethnicity was unknown at the time of birth.
Since Hispanics/Latinos can be of any race, the variables White and Other Races include Hispanics and Latinos.
