February 12, 2016 Residents of Pecan Avenue have asked Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services to further improve storm drainage along that roadway. Storm Water staff has been discussing with residents a time line for infrastructure design and implementation. Unfortunately, the current project backlog has delayed this work. To avoid further delay, the contractor for the adjacent Louise Avenue Storm Drainage Improvement Project will construct the improvements on Pecan Avenue. This project is currently in the six-to-nine month bid phase, after which the Louise Avenue project, along with the work on Pecan Avenue, will begin construction. The City repairs, replaces and installs new storm drainage infrastructure when it deteriorates or becomes too small to handle increases in stormwater. Investing in infrastructure protects public safety, guards private property, improves water quality and enhances quality of life. The Louise Avenue Storm Drainage Improvement Project goals are to reduce flooding of streets and structures and address channel capacity and erosion problems in your neighborhood.
