Please read the enclosed information, complete and return the enclosed Subpart 6J Initial Notification Form by September 17, 2011, as required by the regulation. Applicability On February 21, 2011, the US Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) promulgated Subpart 6J. The rule affects boilers that burn coal, oil, or biomass materials located at minor or area sources that emit hazardous air pollutant(s) (“HAP”). Existing facilities subject to this regulation are required to: submit an initial notification no later than September 17, 2011; and comply with certain emission limits, work practice standards, emission reduction measures, and management practices listed in the regulation as soon as March 21, 2012. A HAP area source means any stationary source that emits or has the controlled potential to emit, in the aggregate, less than 10 tons per year of any single HAP or less than 25 tons per year of any combination of HAPs.
