Subject: Permanent Oversight Committee for Coordinated Assessment Process
The coordinated assessment implementation process is moving forward swiftly in Charlotte! We have reached
the point where it is time to dive into the technical and long-term considerations related to coordinated
assessment. One of those long-term tasks is selecting a committee that will be in charge of monitoring,
evaluating, and problem solving around the new process. This permanent oversight committee will serve as a
subcommittee of the Continuum of Care (CoC).
The Coordinated Assessment Listening and Leadership (CALL) Committee has proposed the following seats for
this committee:
o

o
An emergency shelter staff representative
A non-emergency shelter staff representative (from the provider community)
A Charlotte Police Department employee representative
A funder representative
A health care provider representative
A City of Charlotte employee representative
A Mecklenburg County employee representative
This group is likely to evolve over time based on the needs of the coordinated assessment process, its staff,
and its clients. Additionally, the hierarchy under which it sits will evolve as the Continuum of Care adapts to
the HEARTH Act regulations that call for changes to the Continuum of Care board and its composition. The CoC
may also add or modify seats over time to reflect different sectors of the community including faith-based
organizations, substance use providers, mental health providers, the school system, assessment center frontline staff, etc. The CoC will work with the Alliance to draft by-laws and determine appropriate term limits for
this committee.
Nominations for individuals to serve in these seats will come from the community at large. Nominations for
individuals to serve in these seats should be sent to Kim Walker directly by Monday, March 24. Once
nominations have been received, those nominated will be contacted to confirm their interest and a ballot will
be issued to the community. Once the community has chosen representatives, these names will go to the CoC
for final approval. Nominations and questions can be sent to Kim Walker at kwalker@naeh.org or 202-6308761. Thank you for all your participation and hard work!
Best,
Kim Walker
