With this update, our goal is to provide useful information as it relates to locations of anticipated construction activity. Progress is weather dependent and as with all construction, site conditions may necessitate the need to deviate from what was anticipated. This update also includes answers to general questions asked by individual residents throughout the week. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about this update. Joel Hardison, Construction Inspector, will continue to be your main point of contact for construction related questions. You can reach him at 704-299-1994 or jdhardison@charlottenc.gov. Thanks, Jackie Bray Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services Project Manager, City of Charlotte Current Construction Conditions · Heavy rains causing high storm flows damaged creek banks. This is common in channel sections where vegetation has not been established and was repaired this week. · Work is nearly complete on the drainage structure at the intersection of Scotland Avenue and Colville Road. Expect intermittent lane closures at the intersection. · OnSite will continue to clean up and work on final details along Scotland Avenue and Colville Road. Sanitary Sewer Lines · CharlotteWater has determined that the sanitary sewer on Biltmore Avenue will be replaced entirely rather than partially replaced in areas and then fully lined. Due to the revised scope of work, additional negotiation is underway. · The work originally anticipated to begin midJanuary may be delayed until February. General Construction Activity Information • Utilizing off street parking as much as possible is greatly appreciated. • There will be intermittent blocked access to driveways as equipment is staged within the work area. • It is also likely that materials such as pipe, backfill material, and box culvert sections will be staged in the right of way and in easements. This has the potential to block sections of sidewalk and on occasion, create full or partial lane closures. • Sidewalks won’t be immediately restored in some cases. Onsite will replace sidewalk panels when several areas can be completed at one time.
