o Social psychology and the law, with particular emphasis on how marginalized groups are
perceived within the courtroom. Current research examines perceptions and attitudes
towards victims and perpetrators of domestic violence and stalking that vary as a function
of such variables as gender, sexual orientation and ethnicity.

preventative health behaviours (e.g., physical activity) and exploring the benefits of

o Gambling behaviour and delay discounting (phenomenon that the subjective value of an
outcome is decreased as it becomes delayed. Rates of delay discounting have been
associated with a number of psychological disorders)

Dr. Adam Derenne




Current Research Interests
o Learning and behavior, behavioral genetics, stimulus generalization and peak shift, aging
o Dr. Derenne maintains two research laboratories: one is concerned with learning and
memory, and other is concerned with behavioral genetics. In the former lab, data are
collected with undergraduate students; in the latter, data are collected with mice.
Research assistants can choose where to work. Research assistants' primary
responsibility is to help collect data. Other responsibilities differ due to students'
interests, experience, and availability, and include such tasks as organizing the data in
Microsoft Excel, analyzing the data using SPSS, presenting the results at professional
conferences, and assisting with the publication of the results in scientific journals. For





Current Research Interests
o Educational Psychology, Educational Technology, college student study effectiveness
o Dr. Grabe creates and evaluates on-line study tools intended to improve the performance
of students who enroll in large, introductory courses (e.g., Intro Psychology). He studies
how factors such as reading skill and motivational variables interact with use or nonuse
of these study systems to influence examination performance.
