Psychology Student Awards Application
The following application is to be completed and submitted to Dr. Karyn Plumm (can be
placed in her mailbox in the main office or emailed to karyn.plumm@und.edu) by October
6th, 2014, if you wish to be eligible for any of the Annual Undergraduate Student Awards.
Please clearly indicate the Award(s) for which you are applying by checking the box
provided next to each. You may apply for more than one. The criteria for each award are
listed below.
1. Outstanding Undergraduate Research
Eligibility: undergraduate psychology majors serving as research assistants or conducting
independent research (including honors thesis) during the previous academic year
Criteria: outstanding research efforts, taking into consideration quantity, quality, and
conceptual contributions
2. Outstanding Undergraduate Service
Eligibility: undergraduate psychology majors engaged in service activities during the
previous academic year; service is broadly defined to include activities in which the
student applies his/her abilities to activities in support of other students, the department,
the university, or the community.
Criteria: outstanding service efforts, taking into consideration both the quality and quantity
of contributions
3. Outstanding Psychology Student
Eligibility: undergraduate psychology majors
Criteria: outstanding overall performance as an undergraduate psychology major, taking
into consideration cumulative grade point average, psychology grade point average,
number of credits in psychology courses, research activities, and service to other
students, the department, the university, and the community.
Complete this application on your own, without assistance from faculty members or
graduate students from the Psychology Department. (You may seek assistance in obtaining
specific details to complete the application.)
