Approval Processes: University Policies Policy idea or proposal for change to current university policy is submitted Associate Provost and Director of Policy & Planning evaluate policy proposals to decide which process is most appropriate to follow Administrative Policy Approval Process Faculty Handbook Policy Approval Process Policy Contact meets with Policy Office for needs assessment. Policy Office must endorse for policy to move forward. Faculty Handbook Committee meets during the academic year to discuss and evaluate proposed changes to Handbook policies. Policy Contact writes draft using policy template. Policy Office will assist with editing. Policy changes approved by the Handbook Committee are forwarded to the President, Faculty Senate, and Administrative Faculty Council for review and comment. Policy Contact gets campus input on policy via the Efficiency Committee. Revisions are made by the Handbook Committee in light of commentary. A Concilation Committee may be formed if there is still disagreement with changes. President submits proposed Faculty Handbook changes to Board of Trustees for approval. Board of Trustees approves Handbook modifications on an annual basis. Vice President of appropriate administrative unit approves policy. He or she informs the President’s Executive Team. New policies or policy changes are communicated to campus via email and are posted on the central policy website.
