Your Role in Laboratory Safety
• Remain aware of lab
activities
• Establish and monitor
safety expectations
• Lead by example (e.g.
wear appropriate lab
attire)

hazards

• Know who’s working in

– Are they capable?
– Can they work alone?
– Do they have the

Appropriate Lab Attire
Safety glasses.
Wear sturdy shoes that cover the whole
foot.
Long pants.
Long skirts below the knee are okay though
discouraged in chemistry labs.
Lab coat when working with hazardous
materials.
Appropriate gloves for chemicals, hot/cold
items, material handling.
Tie back and secure long hair.
