Khee Gan Lee was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 1983. He began piano lessons at the age of 9 and at
the age of 15 decided to switch to classical guitar. By the time he was 18 he was giving lessons, and for a
period of time he worked as the lounge musician at the Swiss Garden Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. When the time
came to enter tertiary education he had to make a difficult decision between his passion for music and
science. In the end he decided to pursue a scientific research career. He is currently in his 4th year at UCL
reading for an M.Sc in Physics with Space Science.
Despite his busy academic schedule Khee Gan Lee has continued to study the classical guitar in his own time
and since coming to London he has been studying the guitar privately under Carlos Bonell the world-famous
guitarist and Professor of Guitar at the Royal College of Music. Khee Gan Lee regularly performs both as a
soloist and accompanist at the UCL Chamber Music Club concerts and other events in London. He has
participated in masterclasses with renowned guitarists such as Michael Chapdelaine and Ben Verdery. Khee
Gan Lee’s guitar was made for him in 2001 by the renowned Australian luthier Jeremy Locke.

English. Thomas is passionate about the music of J.S. Bach and in particular the recordings of the pianist
Glenn Gould. Even though Thomas has a demanding academic schedule to maintain he tries to apply Robert
Schumann’s maxim “Make The Well-Tempered Clavier your daily bread”. Tonight is Thomas’s debut
performance at the UCL Chamber Music Club.
