Dr. Carmen M. Simone was appointed as President of Trinidad
State Junior College in June 2013. Since that time, she has led the
institution through difficult financial circumstances, keeping students
at the center of decision-making. She previously served as the Provost
and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Lewis-Clark State College
in Lewiston, ID. During that time, the college adopted a centralized
advising model focused on student success, particularly for freshmen.
In addition, she served for seven years as the Vice President for
Academic Affairs at Casper College in Casper, WY. Under her
leadership, the college successfully achieved a ten year reaccreditation
through the Higher Learning Commission and also maintained ten
specialized program accreditations. She managed an instructional
budget of nearly $30 million and participated in the planning and
construction of three major building projects on campus. Dr. Simone
served as the president for the National Council for Instructional
