The Marie Clay Professional Learning Fund – application form Marie Clay (1926-­2007), the founder of Reading Recovery, had a passionate belief in the potential of 'ordinary' teachers to achieve extraordinary things through professional learning. In her honour we established the Marie Clay Professional Learning Fund. This provides bursaries, up to a total of £2,000 annually, giving Reading Recovery teachers or teacher leaders opportunities to attend national or international professional development events (e.g. national/international conference or institute). Who can apply? All applicants must be accredited and working as either a Reading Recovery teacher or teacher leader within England, Republic of Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey or Denmark at the time of application, and should not have received a MCPLF bursary within the past five years. Applications cannot be made retrospectively. How to apply? Please complete the fields below, agreeing to the terms and conditions, and return the application form via email to ilc@ioe.ac.uk with ‘MCPLF bursary application’ in the subject line. Indications of safe receipt of applications will be made within 48 hours. Copies of invoices in sterling and/or estimated costs should follow by post to the International Literacy Centre, UCL Institute of Education, 20 Bedford Way, London WC1H 0AL. Two referee forms supporting your application should accompany your submission. Please ask your referees to return it via email to ilc@ioe.ac.uk within a week of your application being received. What happens next? All applicants will be informed of the final outcome within one calendar month of submission. We therefore ask you to agree to the following terms and conditions: • I hereby agree to supply a recent digital photo of myself and a short report (1,000 approx. words) on the impact of attending the professional development event. • I give consent for any portion of the short report to be used in: o any International Literacy Centre/UCL Institute of Education publication/production (print or digital materials) o an International Literacy Centre/UCL Institute of Education entry or advertisement appearing as part of an external print or digital publication. • The short report and photo I supply, I retain the copyright and grant the International Literacy Centre/UCL Institute of Education permission to use in its promotional materials as listed above. I understand that my submissions may be edited by the UCL Institute of Education. • I confirm that the short report submitted is my original work and does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
