The ITU-T Focus Group on Audiovisual Media Accessibility (FG AVA) group considered the
possibility of preparing a draft recommendation which includes the different broadcast
subtitling/captioning systems and is contacting Association of Radio Industries and Businesses
(ARIB), Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão Digital (SBTVD), Advanced Television Systems
Committee (ATSC), Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB), State Administration of Radio, Film, and
Television (SARFT) on this regard.
The FG AVA is endeavouring to bring together information in order to prepare draft
recommendation on access systems used for broadcasting subtitling, with different means (for
instance broadcasting, internet, IPTV and mobile delivery).
One of the important access systems are subtitling or captioning for digital television broadcasting.
It would be valuable to assemble information on the technical systems for this used in different
regions. We are contacting what we believe to be relevant regional organisations with a request to
provide us with the specifications that apply in their case for subtitling for digital television
broadcasting.
This statement is a formal request to provide either documents or links which give the information.
Documents which give operational guidelines are also welcome. We welcome future
communication and look forward to further collaboration with you.
