Proceedings of 8th Asian Business Research Conference 1 - 2 April 2013, Bangkok, Thailand, ISBN: 978-1-922069-20-7 Persistence of Social Exclusion in Colombia Aura Cecilia Pedraza Avella* The objective of this research is to analyze the existence of social exclusion situations which are persistent in Colombia (South America), comparing 2003 and 2008 data. First of all, the social exclusion in Colombia is evaluated for each year of study through a multidimensional index. Then, the situation in 2003 is compared to this of 2008, taking into account differences between regions, genders, groups of age and incomes. Finally, a comparison for age cohorts is done to evaluate the change of social exclusion in this country. The results show that people have the risk of falling in vicious circle through the time but, at least for some regions in Colombia, individuals are finding forms of leaving social exclusion.
