Training Needs of a PhD Candidate from the Perspective of
Candidate in the Field of Science and Technology

Exploring the training needs of a lecturer who plan to further PhD study has
received little academic attention. This study explores the training needs of
lecturers in the field of science and technology, who plan to further study at
the PhD level. Using a qualitative approach to analyzing 19 academicians,
who work in 7 Public Institutions of Higher Education in Malaysia, this study
reveals 8 types of training that needed by the academicians in this context
before pursuing studies at the PhD level.
