What is THE English as a second language (ESL) program? English as a Second Language (ESL) is the study of English for people whose native language is not English. ESL courses are intended to develop English language skills necessary for success in college, in the workplace, and your personal life. If you are interested in learning the English language we welcome you to participate in Victor Valley ESL Courses The ESL program at VVC offers a variety of credit and non-credit courses during the day and evening to help you develop your English listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar skills. The courses you take depend on the skill level you place in after you take your ESL assessment exam. In addition, ESL Basic Computer Literacy courses are offered to help you learn how to use a computer and the internet for class assignments. ESL Computer Lab: After you enroll in ESL courses practice your English reading, writing, and speaking skills in the ESL Computer Lab. STEPS TO ENROLL FOR ESL COURSES AT VVC 1. Complete an Admissions Application in the Admissions and Records office (Bldg. #52) or online at www.vvc.edu. 2. Complete an ESL Assessment to determine your ESL skills level. Schedule an appointment at https://appointments.vvc.edu/ or in the Assessment Office (Bldg. #55). 3. Attend an ESL Orientation (schedule in Bldg. 55). 4. Make an appointment with the Bilingual Counselor in person or by calling (760) 245-4271 ext. 2296 or ext. 2713 to help you select your courses for the first semester and to begin an educational plan (Bldg. #55). 5. Register for your courses by internet (www.vvc.edu) or in person with Admissions and Records (Bldg. 52). 6.
