Mike McCracken requested a general discussion regarding DVST, GUID and ACOM courses for approval at next Curriculum Committee meeting. MINUTES: The minutes of May 31, 2012 were approved as presented. (Mike McCracken and Carol Delong abstained.) ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE: It was MSC (Huiner/James) to approve the course deactivation for AJ 133 Writing for Criminal Justice. AUTOMOTIVE: It was MSC (Huiner/Golder) to bundle agenda items 2.2-2.3. It was MSC (Delong/Harvey) to approve AUTO 85.5 Engine and Emission Control Training and AUTO 85.6 Emission Control Training as new courses. BIOLOGY: It was MSC (Harvey/James) to bundle agenda items 2.4-2.6. It was MSC (McCracken/Golder) to approve the course deactivation for BIOL 126 Natural History of the Mojave Desert, BIOL 127 Identification and Study of Birds and BIOL 128 Identification and Study of Amphibians and Reptiles of the Mojave Desert. COMPUTER INFORMATION SYS: It was MSC (Ramming/Jones) to approve the course deactivation for CIS 252 Netware 6 Advanced Administration. EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES: It was MSC (Ramming/Harvey) to approve Distance Education as a method of instruction for EMS 61 EMT Refresher. GEOGRAPHY: It was MSC (Delong/Huiner) to approve the course update for GEOG 101 Introduction to Physical Geography. KINESIOLOGY: It was MSC (Jones/Delong) to approve as corrected the course update for KIND 152 Dance Choreography I (formerly PEDA 152). POLITICAL SCIENCE: It was MSC (Delong/Golder) to approve POLS 221 Model United Nations as a new course replacing POLS 90A-D. PSYCHOLOGY: It was MSC (Golder/Huiner) to approve the course update for PSYC 108 Identifying/Helping Survivors of Dysfunctional Families, changing the title to Family Dynamics of Addiction and Abuse, and adding Distance Education as a method of instruction. It was MSC (McCracken/James) to approve the course update for PSYC 111 Introduction to Child Psychology, adding Distance Education as a method of instruction, and adding ENGL 101.0 as recommended preparation. It was MSC (Delong/Huiner) to approve the course update for PSYC 133 Introduction to Drug/Alcohol Studies, changing the title to Introduction to Substance Abuse Studies, and adding Distance Education as a method of instruction. It was MSC (Golder/Harvey) to approve PSYC 215 Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences as a new course. THEATRE ARTS: It was MSC (Huiner/James) to approve the course update for TA 113 Stage Makeup, changing the units from 3.0 to 2.0, lab hours from 96-108 to 48-54, grading from Graded to Grade Option, and repeatability from 2X to 0X. 2 OTHER: Discussion regarding a fast track approval process for SLO’s in CurricUNET. Presentation by Joe Pendleton regarding Basic Skills 6, 7, 8, 9.
