Padres aprenderan como adaptar los metodos de crianza segun la edad y grado de desarrollo de su
hijo. Tambien se tratan temas de interes para los padres de niños mayorcitos: la

A look back at 2008
Foster youth back pack give away
I wish we could show you foster
children with the back packs. We
are not allowed to show their faces
in photos, but they were thrilled!!!
Thanks to the generous donations from VVC psychology students and
employees, and community members, foster youth throughout the community received back packs twice this year. The back packs are filled with a
small blanket, a stuffed animal, a journal or book, and a toothpaste/tooth
brush kit. We collected 30 backpacks to give away in August and we had
40 to give out in December. In addition to back packs, several people donated other goodies ranging from hot wheels, to fingernail polish, to
tampons. These items are much appreciated by the children and youth who
receive them. Thank you.
May 2008 Foster Parent Celebration
Thank you, again, for all you do for our children!!
Independent Living Program was honored by the
Foundation for California Community Colleges for
“dedication to foster youth.” Rebecca Talley receives the
award from Dr. Robert Silverman, VVC CEO and President.
Volunteers provided approximately 280
hours of quality training for foster and kinship
caregivers and foster youth, and worked in our
offices. Thank you to Marcelino Garza,
Sheri Schmoll, Sonya Perez, and Liz Childress.

What makes our program special is our family of trainers, volunteers, and student workers. We have a small group of dedicated individuals who care about the families in our community and we work together to make a difference in the lives of others. Our backgrounds are diverse, allowing us to provide training for people with various needs. It’s the youth and families that we serve that make our day.
