CODE ENFORCEMENT INSPECTION’S TEAM SOP 12/23/10 (Standard operating procedure) SUBJECT: Permit Cancellation In order to safe guard a permit holders permit from being cancelled by someone other than the holder or approved representative the following procedure shall be followed. In addition this will give Code Enforcement the opportunity to review and follow up on some jobsites where stage of cancellation is in question. All permits to be cancelled must complete a Permit Cancellation Form giving a reason for the cancellation in detail. This form will be posted on the web at www.meckpermit.com. All permits that are cancelled requiring a credit/refund must also complete the CREDIT/REFUND APPLICATION & ADJUSTMENT/CANCELLATION FORM posted on the web at www.meckpermit.com. Permit cancellation form requires verification of person cancelling either in person or by notary and will require a member of the management team approval. Processing cancelled permits and review of PCF: No inspections (no work on any trades) - Permit can be closed out with no follow up needed. Inspections- If contractor not doing work and work to be completed by a new contractor or plan change, management will approve cancellation and hold a copy of the PCF for 30 days (unless imminent danger concerns exist). After the 30 days PCF will be reviewed along with verification of new permit. 1. If new permit has been issued then PCF can be discarded. 2. If there is no new permit (after review at 30 days) an RQ will be set up for the inspector to verify stage of construction. RQ can be passed if the stage the work stopped was at a safe level with no site concerns. If RQ fails then RQ SOP procedures should be followed.
