Eat a well-balanced diet Stay physically active Be a lifelong learner Be socially engaged Use medicines safely Seek treatment for your pain Manage health conditions Strive for satisfying sleep Relieve stress Seek professional help, when needed Good Thinking! A special kind of fat in the diet, called omega-3fats, may improve mood and prevent or relieve depression. Fish that live in cold water, such as salmon or tuna, contain omega-3 fats. Omega-3s are found in other foods, too, including walnuts, canola oil, flax and green leafy vegetables. To get enough dietary omega-3 fats, eat 2 to 3 servings each week of fish (such as salmon, tuna, lake trout, and mackerel) or consume a small handful of walnuts or 1 tablespoon of canola oil or flax every day.
